Fascinating and riveting novel, chockerblock full of vivid historical detail about life in a second rate traveling circus during the depression in the United States. It was a real glimpse of Americana because of the author’s meticulous research. All the elements of a great read: love, desire, action, humor, murder, and a totally surprising and superb ending. The true heroine is a wonderful elephant named Rosie.
Drenched Part 1 Soaking

I admit, it took me a little while to warm up to this series, but now I’m hooked! The audiobook is an incredible performance, as well. Eoin Colfer creates a fascinating new universe that is peopled with equally fascinating characters. It would be a great read for preteens, but as an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I also love the physical book – the cover is much nicer than shown here, and it has uneven, old-fashioned looking rag paper pages. It’s much higher quality material than you usually find in a hardback.

This product lives up to it’s reviews. This is easy to read and navigate. The one shortcoming is that is too easy to accidently buy a book. The cursor always stops on Buy Now. For those of us with fast trigger fingers, we are buying things we do not want. There is a follow-up page that says did you accidently buy this book and you can get it removed. But it is instantly purchased and it takes a while for the credit to appear. Also if you miss the opt out page once purchased you have to CALL to get the book removed. This needs fixing…..

I am probably the most unlikely person to read this book but I finally gave into “peer pressure” from my girlfriends (Note: My girlfriends and I are no “tweens” – we’re all in our late 20’s, married, engaged, working, in grad school, etc. you get the idea. We don’t easily give into illusions). But Ms. Meyer’s Twilight has a unique blend of simplicity, purity and intrigue that is hard to resist. And Edward Cullen – this character deserves a separate review! He is a true resurrection of the “gentleman” of a century or two ago – cultured, sophisticated, loving and caring. The fact that he’s a vampire adds a “bad-boy” element to his personality which makes him hard to resist. I totally understand why some people dismiss the book or even hate it. I used to be one of them (not even having read the book!) but I have to admit – Twilight has bewitched me.

I found it hard to believe that Black people used that form of language in the 60’s. I am a Black person and I found the book degrading. I was especially offended that a White person tried to interpret the thoughts of Blacks.
