I like the product but the seller advertised as it being new and it was obviously not. It came ghetto packaged and the headphones were obviously old. They were discolored and tangled up.

THE HELP, Kathryn Stockett’s debut novel, is one of those books where the characters stay with you long after you put the book down. The story of three ordinary, yet amazing women, in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960s, THE HELP shows us the life of two black women working as maids at the dawn of the civil rights movement.

Aibileen and Minny have stories to tell of what life is like for them, and Skeeter, one of the privileged young white women of the time, is trying to listen to those stories and write them down into a book all the while having her eyes opened to the cost of the life she has known. Taking on this project, this book describes what life is like for a black maid in the Deep South, the chances they take and the consequences of it, and you see how much was sacrificed to move us forward.

As these three women come together an incredible story comes out–that we are all the same. We are all women with a heart, a mind, dreams, fears and joys.

Their stories are scattered among the chapters, each written in their own voice. Stockett’s ability to do that is so good, you feel as if the book truly were written by three different women.

While the book is sad at times, there is a triumphant feel to it. These women show a courage and a tenacity that is inspiring. In some ways it was reminiscent of A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS by revealing how little really is different between us as women. It is a goal I try to emulate in my own writing.

A favorite line from the book sums it up best: “Wasn’t that the point of the book? For women to realize, We are just two people. Not that much separates us. Not nearly as much as I’d thought.”

Pick this book up. You won’t regret it.

The Night Listener A

I am a triathlete and I will say this is by far the best purchase I’ve made yet. Never had a single problem with it. Love the quick release to mount to my bike or wrist. Also, the free software is wonderful to keep track of all your workout/race data. I would definitely recommend this device to anyone who both cycles and runs.

Bought as a present for my son, the apps we’ve downloaded have given him hours of fun. My only wish would be to bring down the price another $10-20. Thanks Steve Jobs and everyone else at Apple for creating this great device.
Song for a listener

The item was as advertised & is a much needed alternative to the windshield suction mount. The only thing negative is that it took too long to arrive, about 6 days. This is the longest of any item I have ordered on Amazon. It works well & is just what I wanted.

This is a good product and he does a great job of reading the Bible. The only negative is that if you download the files to an MP-3, you have to rename the files in order to be able to see the titles on the screen of the MP-3 player.

Artemis Fowl was the recipient of the accusation in the title of this review, but even though he is a thief, he is also much more. The twelve-year-old genius has decided to use his intelligence to pursue a life of crime, so we find an unusual situation. A story with an evil main character is not a completely new concept; Jean-Baptiste Grenouille in the outstanding “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” or Serge A. Storms in the series of books by Tim Dorsey come to mind. If we go into a different media, then Tony Soprano is one of the most famous examples in our time. What is novel though, is using this concept in a book targeted to young adults, and this is certainly a reason for controversy. I have to say though that the final product is so good, that the good aspects of this effort more than overcome this “drawback”.

Artemis Fowl descends from a prestigious family of billionaires that a few years ago suffered a reversal of fortune. His father has disappeared and is presumed dead and her mother has gone crazy with grief. Artemis is decided to return his family to where it is supposed to be and crafts a plan designed to do just this. To try to accomplish his goal, he uses the help of Butler, a mountain of a man, expert in combat, and who as his name suggests is Artemis’ butler, and Juliet, Butler’s sister. The plan involves kidnapping a fairy and then getting a ransom in gold, which is a lot harder than it sounds.

The story involves a myriad of creatures besides fairies, such as goblins, elves, dwarves, centaurs and trolls. These variety allows the author to create several characters within each one of these groups that are interesting, peculiar and endearing. But the creative process does not stop there, since the author uses some of these peculiar characteristics, as well as some acute comments to make us laugh us loud in the middle of the action. Outstanding vacuum for the price!! I have a $400 vacuum that is no use against all this pet hair. Well this vacuum, some how, picks it up. The only negatives I can mention…its loud, and the bag fills up kinda quick. So buy extra during checkout. Other than that how can you beat this!?!
A Little Listener

What can I say other than I love this book…and the rest of the saga. The characters felt so real to me I couldn’t stop thinking about them and their little world for weeks!! Great series for ALL ages!!

I had been using the memory card that came with my Canon Powershot for 1 year. It didn’t hold many pictures, but it worked well. This card will take about 1800 (8MP) pictures on my camera. But the write speed is slow. Much slower than the card that came with my camera. There is about a 5-second writing delay, while the other one takes about 2-seconds.
