Plato s Thinkers Wild

This is my first G-Shock watch, and I must say I am very pleased and impressed with my purchase. For those of you who are looking to buy a G-Shock, I suggest you look into buying this one. Don’t let the white color scare you, it looks a lot better in-person than in the pictures they provide here. Being a college student I decided I needed a decent watch to start keeping better track of time. I could have done this with a $20 watch from Target, but I wanted to treat myself to something a bit nice for a change, and something that could withstand my daily activities. (I’m also very athletic.) With that, I think I’ve made the right choice.

Here are some details about the watch:

Let’s start with the straps. I haven’t owned any other G-Shocks, but this G-Shock has straps that doesn’t fully extend 180 degrees. Meaning it won’t lay flat on a table like some of the traditional watches. It stays stationary in a position where it almost encompasses in a full circle without it fully coming together. There are no moving parts where the strap meets the actual watch head. Instead the straps themselves are flexible enough to bend and fit an individuals wrist. I like the way they did this because it feels secure in my hands and ultimately feels compact and well structured. The straps themselves seem to be made of good quality resin. It definitely doesn’t have that ‘cheap’ feel to it. I love the detail they put into the buckle, where they imprinted: “CASIO, JAPAN” into the metal.
I believe there are enough holes in the strap to accommodate almost anyone’s wrist; thick or skinny, unless you’re some sort of body builder or someone who has huge wrist.

I like the actual size of the watch head. I’m 6 feet tall with a decent build and the watch matches me perfectly, no awkwardness or anything. The tiny letters that they imprinted on the inside of the watch might be an issue with people who can’t see small print, but I believe once you get to use the watch and get accustomed to it. The

Although it looks like mainly silver metal, it really is more white plastic than metal. The watch is lightweight and durable. It is hard to read the analog readings because they are in silver and on a white background. Adjusting the size of the watch is easy, but you have to take a silver link and a plastic link out at the same time, loosing over 1/2 an inch each time. The watch looks nice, but still can handle rough daily wear. Would probably buy again.

Solar recharging of watches like the WVM120 may work fine in Arizona but here in the northeast, the best we can do in the winter is cloudy day recharging. According to Casio, it is recommended that you charge your watch in a cloudy window for 48 minutes a day. I’m used to wearing my watch during the day and don’t want to take it off for an hour every day to charge it. If you are in an office environment, it’s even worse – you have to point your watch at the ceiling lights for 8 hours each day to keep it charged. How do you manage that??

It’s necessary to keep the watch charged in the upper 2 of 5 levels or you start to lose functions. Should you have the misfortune of using the lamp too many times at night or have the watch in your sleeve for too many days, you could discharge below the upper levels. For a total recharge, even in Arizona, you have to put it on your picnic table outside for 6 days. Even worse, in our part of the country, it will take 47 days in a cloudy window to recharge. And forget about artificial light – you can’t fully recharge the battery because it takes over a year to get a charge that only lasts 8 months.

Read the instruction book before you buy. I’d rather buy a 3 dollar battery every 2-3 years. I sent the watch back and am looking for a battery version.

I love this book! It brings me right back to Brooklyn, and reminds me so much of my roots. In our home there was always cooking, good food and lots of family and friends. These recipes are the same good cooking, simple Italian cooking to enjoy. I also have Rao’s other cookbook which I also enjoy. Bought this for my son for Christmas and then had to get one for myself. Get this and enjoy!

Although I had a lot to do, once I picked up this book, I could not stop reading. I finished it in two days after a 10-hour marathon session on day two. I was sad to close the book at the end, wondering what the future held for Minny, Aibeleen, Skeeter, Celia and Hilly. I hope the vicious Hilly got what she deserves. And I hope Minny and her children fared all right, perhaps with Celia and Johnny’s help. Celia’s house has plenty of room, but would they invite Minny and her family in? And will Minny help Celia become socially acceptable? Will Aibeleen be able to live on her measly newspaper columnist’s salary?

Most worrisome: will there be more hatred inflicted upon the black neighborhood? It’s hard to breathe easy when it’s still the early 60s at the end of the book.

This book wraps around your brain and heart and doesn’t let go. At least for me, these are living people whom I adore and admire. I have recommended it to many of my friends.

I bought this vacume 4 years ago and it’s still working great. My daughter liked mine so much she bought one. I tell my grandkids this vacume has so much suction it would suck them up. They laugh,run and jump on the couch when I vacume. I have carpet and tile and 1/2 of my house is hardwood floors. It works GREAT on all of these. For bridal gifts this is what I give.

I read this book back in high school many moons ago and when I saw it was coming out again I had to have it. This is an excellent read.
